Ways to Show allows students to demonstrate their understanding of multiplication by representing it in several ways. This makes it a useful assessment tool for teachers, as well as a useful exploration for students.
This can be used in such a wide variety of lessons to show student thinking. Firstly, it can be used to show the total of an estimation jar where students estimate and then arrange the contents to prove the total.
It can also be used in place of a think board or can be used to show the thinking of students and force them to begin to use a more efficient strategy.
See the video below for a demonstration on how it may be used.
