Playgrounds

Forest Street Primary School boasts large and open play spaces. With equipment ranging from an age-appropriate climbing wall, to many courts and ovals. There are also quiet places for students who just want to have a calm time at playtime.

Students are encouraged to play together in a way that will build positive relationships with their peers. Student leaders are given the skills to guide play with the younger students, fostering friendships and cooperation skills.

Indoor activities are also offered during playtimes. Students may visit the library to read a book, or to play board games. Forest Street Primary School also encourages mindfulness, with sessions running most playtimes.

There are many areas promoting student exploration and creative play, with students’ imagination being encouraged throughout all play times. Students may access the “POD”, a resource managed by our Grade Five and Six students, containing different play equipment designed to foster creativity.

"Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth."
